Vernissage »TONY CRAGG«

A grand opening for great art: the TONY CRAGG exhibition at the UNESCO World Heritage Site Mathildenhöhe was opened in glorious sunshine - with prominent guests, a personal greeting from the artist and a festive tour of the sculpture trail.
This year's TONY CRAGG exhibition in the Spanish Tower sculpture garden was officially opened on Saturday, April 26, 2025, in perfect weather and in the midst of the Art Nouveau ensemble of the Mathildenhöhe UNESCO World Heritage Site. Around 500 visitors gathered directly in front of the six and a half meter high stainless steel sculpture Points of View, which forms the striking starting point of the sculpture trail.
Ulrich Scheinert, representing the BS Kulturstiftung, Lord Mayor Hanno Benz and Dr. Susanne Völker, General Manager from the Kulturfonds Frankfurt RheinMain, welcomed the guests and emphasized the special significance of the exhibition for the science city of Darmstadt and the Rhine-Main region. SCHIRN Director Dr. Sebastian Baden spoke about the exhibition and the extensive work of the British-German sculptor. Tony Cragg himself also took the opportunity to address the audience at the opening on the Mathildenhöhe.
After the official opening on the Mathildenhöhe, the guests went on a walk together along the approximately 1.5-kilometer-long path to the Rosenhöhe and on to the Spanish Tower sculpture garden. There they not only had the opportunity to purchase the exhibition catalog, but also to toast the successful opening with a glass of champagne or wine.
