Vernissage »TONY CRAGG«

A grand opening for great art: the TONY CRAGG exhibition at the UNESCO World Heritage Site Mathildenhöhe was opened in glorious sunshine - with prominent guests, a personal greeting from the artist and a festive tour of the sculpture trail.
In glorious weather and surrounded by the Art Nouveau ensemble of the UNESCO World Heritage Site Mathildenhöhe, the 2025 exhibition TONY CRAGG at the Skulpturengarten Spanischer Turm was officially opened on Saturday, April 26, 2025. Directly in front of the six-and-a-half-meter-high stainless steel sculpture Points of View, which marks the striking beginning of the sculpture trail, around 500 guests gathered for the occasion.
Ulrich Scheinert, representing the BS Kulturstiftung, Mayor Hanno Benz, and Dr. Susanne Völker, Managing Director of the Kulturfonds Frankfurt RheinMain, welcomed the audience and emphasized the special significance of the exhibition for the City of Science Darmstadt and the wider Rhine-Main region.
Dr. Sebastian Baden, Director of the SCHIRN Kunsthalle Frankfurt, spoke about the exhibition and the diverse work of the German-British sculptor. Tony Cragg himself also took the opportunity to address the audience with a few personal words.
Following the official opening, guests set off together on a walk along the approximately 1.5-kilometer sculpture trail, which leads from the Mathildenhöhe through the Rosenhöhe to the Skulpturengarten Spanischer Turm. There, visitors had the opportunity to purchase the exhibition catalogue and raise a glass of sparkling wine or wine to celebrate the successful opening.
